How To Make Your Own Flea-Killing And Dry Skin Relief Dog Shampoo

Posted on

Keeping your dog clean with regular baths will help to keep your pet looking and feeling good. Sometimes, dogs may have fleas or develop dry skin. In these cases, you will have to be careful about the kind of shampoo you use on your dog. To ensure that your dog's shampoo has the best and most-effective ingredients, you should consider making your dog's shampoo yourself. Here are a few recipes you can try to create your own shampoos to fight fleas and alleviate dry skin.

Vinegar Flea Shampoo

Vinegar is very effective at killing fleas. In order to get the full flea-fighting benefits of vinegar, you can use it to create a shampoo for your dog. Here is what you will need.

  1. A cup of white cane vinegar
  2. A cup of water
  3. Half a cup of baby shampoo

Combine all the ingredients in a spray bottle, and apply it to your dog's coat. Be sure to rub the shampoo in areas that may be difficult to reach, such as under the dog's forearms and the base of your dog's tail.  After shampooing the dog, allow the shampoo to soak into the dog's skin for at least ten minutes to kill the fleas. Comb and brush your dog's hair while you are waiting the ten minutes.

Dry Skin Shampoo

A shampoo that contains glycerin and aloe vera gel is great for your dog's skin if it becomes dry and flaky. To make a dog shampoo for dry flaky skin, you will need the following ingredients.

  1. A cup of baby shampoo
  2. One third cup of glycerin
  3. Two tablespoons of aloe vera gel
  4. 4 cups of water
  5. Combine all the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well.
  6. Shampoo your dog, and let the shampoo soak for about five minutes before rinsing the dog's coat thoroughly.

If your dog has fleas in addition to having dry skin, you can add a cup of white cane vinegar to this recipe. If you do not have white cane vinegar for either of these recipes, you may use apple cider vinegar instead. If there is no baby shampoo available, you can use some non-toxic dish washing liquid as a substitute for baby shampoo.

Creating your own dog shampoo is fun and easy to do. It will save you money and give you the peace of mind of knowing that your dog is not using a product with harmful chemicals. For more advice, speak with experts like Animal Inn Pet Boarding Kennel.
